After weeks of shouldering extra responsibilities, Queen Camilla is taking a step back from her royal duties, according to reports. Hello! magazine states that she will be taking a short hiatus of one week, during which her schedule will be free from any engagements or responsibilities that would normally keep her busy.
It is reported that Queen Camilla will resume her work on March 11th, when she is due to lead the Royal Family for the Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey. In the meantime, other senior royals will step in to fulfill her duties.
It is no secret that King Charles has been facing health issues that have prevented him from carrying out his usual royal obligations. He was diagnosed with an unspecified form of cancer last month after receiving treatment for an enlarged prostate. Currently, he is undergoing treatment for his condition.
To make matters more challenging, Kate Middleton’s recent hospitalization and recovery period have limited Prince William’s ability to assist with royal duties. Consequently, Queen Camilla has taken on additional responsibilities, such as representing the royal family at the memorial service for the late King Constantine of Greece last week.
Given the circumstances, it is understandable that Queen Camilla would welcome a break from her engagements. Hello! magazine reports that she plans to spend her “week off” with King Charles and other family members.
As for King Charles, it has been well-documented that he has been dividing his time between London and the royal estate of Sandringham in Norfolk, England. Although the specifics of his cancer type and stage have not been disclosed by the royals, he is currently undergoing treatment. During a meeting with British Prime Minister Rishi Sunka, King Charles openly expressed how the messages of support he’s received from the public have moved him to tears. The royal family’s general message is that he is doing well and maintaining a positive outlook in his recovery.
Similar sentiments are being expressed about Kate Middleton, who was hospitalized for a planned abdominal procedure in late January. Following her 13-day stay at the London Clinic, she has been recuperating at home and is not expected to resume her royal duties until after Easter. Although the lack of updates from the Palace has caused concern among royal fans about Kate’s health, Kensington Palace has reassured the public that there is no cause for alarm. They have emphasized that updates will only be provided when there are significant developments.
Let us send our well wishes to both King Charles and Queen Camilla for a pleasant few days spent together.
