It’s safe to say that Kate Middleton has become one of the most beloved members of the Royal Family.
As a vital senior working member and a loving mother-of-three, she and Prince William are endeavoring to raise Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis as normally as possible.
Kate endured plenty during her three pregnancies, facing challenging times. She revealed that she had a “rotten sickness” during her pregnancy with Prince George, and it was much the same after she fell pregnant with Princess Charlotte.
But that’s not all. Reportedly, while William and Kate Middleton were pondering the issue of having a third child, they, alongside many others, were warned that it might not be a good idea.
Fortunately, the future king and queen didn’t listen, and Prince Louis was born.
Kate Middleton was ‘terrified’ after the birth of Prince George
Just hours after his birth, George made his first public appearance in front of a huge crowd outside the Lindo Wing in London.
His parents were naturally overjoyed, but for Kate Middleton, giving birth to a future king and her first child was stressful. Speaking on Giovanna Fletcher’s podcast Happy Mum, Happy Baby, the Princess of Wales said it was “terrifying” leaving the hospital.
On the podcast, Kate Middleton explained that she decided to follow in her late mother-in-law Diana’s footsteps and pose on the hospital steps with her little bundle of joy. She felt the importance of sharing that joy and appreciation with the public.
“It wasn’t a place I wanted to hang around in”
Although the public support was overwhelming, Kate Middleton had mixed emotions. Being a new parent, coupled with the uncertainty of the future, made leaving the hospital a daunting experience.
Kate shared that she stayed in the hospital overnight, but she was eager to get home and get back to normality. Being in the hospital reminded her of her sickness, so she wanted to leave as soon as possible.
The Princess of Wales faced the same struggles as many other mothers while she was pregnant. She was diagnosed with hyperemesis gravidarum, acute morning sickness, during her pregnancies with George, Charlotte, and Louis. She even had to cancel a royal tour because of her diagnosis.
Kate Middleton revealed she “quite liked” labor
Kate Middleton opened up about her experience with acute morning sickness during a visit to the Orchards Centre in Kent. She recalled feeling sick and not being able to eat properly during her pregnancies. However, she marveled at the body’s ability to take all the goodness and grow new life.
She also mentioned that labor felt like an event with an ending, which she quite liked as it marked the end of feeling unwell during pregnancy. She acknowledged that every pregnancy and birth is different and not necessarily the same for everyone.
The birth of Prince Louis
When Prince Louis was born, Kate Middleton faced similar challenges. She spoke openly about her morning sickness and how it impacted not only her but also the people around her. Yet before Prince Louis was born, William and Kate were warned about having a third child. The idea of sustainability and equity was raised, urging them to reconsider.
Despite the challenges and warnings, Kate Middleton remains a devoted mother who connects with other parents through her relatability. She understands that no matter how much you prepare, the experience of becoming a mother is always a shock to the system. She shares her own experiences with new parents, including how she and William chose the names for their children.
Kate Middleton continues to be an inspiration as she navigates the joys and challenges of motherhood while fulfilling her royal duties. Her dedication to her family and the public is truly remarkable.
