Kate Middleton was recently snapped in public amid cancer treatment. The Princess of Wales has stayed out of the public eye since announcing her cancer diagnosis in March while undergoing chemotherapy.

However, Kate has recently been spotted out and about with her family and running errands by herself, sources tell PEOPLE.

Kate Middleton continues her recovery

Meanwhile, Buckingham Palace has received “tens of thousands” of well-wishes for Kate Middleton through letters and gifts, the Daily Mail reports.

On 20 May, the Royal Foundation Business Taskforce for Early Childhood published a new report on the Princess of Wales’ initiative to encourage businesses to create the right conditions to help parents and their children, as part of its royal work focusing on the importance of the first five years of life to a child.

Although Princess Kate has been “kept fully informed” of the project’s progress, the latest announcement is not a sign of a return to work. She is not expected to return to royal duties until she is given the green light to do so by her medical team, palace sources said.

Christian Guy, group chief executive of The Royal Foundation Center for Early Childhood, spoke to her about the report’s findings and next steps.

“Prioritizing early childhood for a happier and healthier society: This is another crucial moment for Her Royal Highness’s work in early childhood… its impact and the work of the Center continues as she recovers. On Tuesday 21 May, some of the UK’s leading businesses will join forces to launch a ‘major early years rallying call’ to their fellow business leaders across the country… urging them to join them, foundation and Princess to help transform the way our country supports the vital early years.”

Kate Middleton launched her business taskforce in March last year. Its spokesperson adds:

“The work of the Prince and Princess projects is ‘always on’ and this has been no different for the Center over the past five months, where much progress has been made under the leadership of Guy, the Centre’s Director. However, early childhood is a huge priority for The Princess and she has therefore been kept fully informed throughout the development of the task force’s work and has seen the report.’

Prince William on his wife’s health

Prince William shared a positive tidbit about his wife during a May 10 visit to a hospital in the Isles of Scilly.

“May I ask what Princess Kate is doing?” hospital administrator Tracy Smith said in a video broadcast by Sky News.

“He feels fine, thank you,” the 41-year-old Prince of Wales replied.

Although Kate Middleton said she “needs to focus on a full recovery” in her diagnosis announcement, she could attend events when she feels able: “She has the inner strength, the support of her husband and her amazing family, so she can focus on what’s important, which is her return to strength,” Ailsa Anderson, a former spokeswoman for Queen Elizabeth, recently told PEOPLE. Those closest to the Princess say they have every hope that when she is ready, she will come back stronger than ever.
