Our hearts were heavy with grief when we learned of the untimely passing of actor Adan Canto. Known for his roles in popular films and TV shows like “Designed Survivor,” “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” “Narcos,” and his most recent work in “The Cleaning Lady,” Canto captured the hearts of many with his exceptional talent and genuine spirit.

On January 8, 2024, Canto lost his private battle with appendiceal cancer. At the young age of 42, he left behind a legacy that will forever be remembered and cherished. His loss has deeply affected the entertainment industry, as evidenced by the heartfelt statements released by both FOX and WBTV.

“We are heartbroken to learn of the passing of Adan Canto,” the statement reads. “A wonderful actor and dear friend, we were honored to have him as part of the Warner Bros. Television and Fox Entertainment families since his U.S. debut in The Following more than a decade ago.”

Reflecting on his most recent work in “The Cleaning Lady,” the statement continues, “Most recently, he lit up the screen with a powerful performance that showcased his artistry, range, depth, and vulnerability. This is an unfathomable loss, and we grieve alongside his wife Stephanie, their children, and loved ones. We will miss Adan dearly.”

Canto’s representatives also shared their thoughts on his passing. “Adan had a depth of spirit that few truly knew. Those who glimpsed it were changed forever. He will be greatly missed by so many,” they expressed.

Canto’s journey in the entertainment industry began in his hometown of Mexico City, Mexico. He appeared in various commercials before landing a role on the Mexican show “Estado de Gracia.” In 2013, he made his breakthrough in the United States when he portrayed Paul Torres on FOX’s hit series, “The Following.”

Yet, Canto’s aspirations extended beyond acting. In 2013, he established his own production company, Canto House Pictures, reflecting his desire to explore different aspects of the industry. His directorial debut came in the form of a short film called “Before Tomorrow.”

Canto’s passion and dedication resulted in the creation of another project, “The Shot.” The film garnered critical acclaim and was nominated for three awards. It ultimately triumphed by winning the Best Narrative Short award at both the San Antonio Film Festival and the Los Angeles Movie Awards, while also being nominated for the Critic’s Choice Award at the Iowa Independent Film Festival.

While his contributions to the world of film and television were significant, Canto’s legacy extends beyond his professional achievements. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Stephanie Ann Canto, along with their two young children, 3-year-old Roman Alder and 1-year-old Eve Josephine.

As we remember Adan Canto, we honor his incredible talent, his inspirational spirit, and the impact he left on his colleagues, friends, and adoring fans. Though he may no longer be with us, his light will continue to shine through the characters he brought to life and the memories he created. Adan Canto, you will be dearly missed.
