An Unforgettable Gesture: A Teacher’s Heartwarming Wedding
Planning a wedding can be a daunting task, especially when it comes to choosing the bridesmaids and groomsmen. But one remarkable woman
found a unique and heartfelt solution. Alexandra Stamps, a fifth-grade teacher at Science and Technology Elementary School in Wichita, Kansas, didn’t hesitate to ask her own students to be part of her big day.
In July, after almost a year of dating, Alexandra tied the knot with her fiancé Mason McDowell, who is also a teacher. Both of them wanted to involve their students in their wedding, not just as guests, but as bridesmaids and groomsmen. What a beautiful way to showcase the love they have for their students!
“I love them, and they’re a significant part of my life. I want them to be up there with me because they’re my biggest fans,” Alexandra expressed in an interview with the Wichita Eagle.
When Alexandra asked her students to be her junior bridesmaids and groomsmen, she captured the heartwarming moment on video and shared it on TikTok. The video quickly went viral, racking up an astounding 19 million views.
In the heartwarming clip, Alexandra stands in her classroom surrounded by her adoring students. She begins by saying, “I’m about to ask my students to be part of my wedding,” and proceeds to ask the girls, “Khloe, Mary, Reagan, Angelina, Esmeralda, Lucy, Lily, Bella, Harley, will you guys be my junior bridesmaids in my wedding?” The girls excitedly respond with a resounding “Yes!”
Alexandra then turns to the boys and asks, “Bryland, Max, Eric, Emilio, Kayden, Will, Conner, Jessie, Jose, and Sebastian, will you guys be my junior groomsmen?” Without hesitation, the boys enthusiastically answer with a collective “Yes!”
The students were overwhelmed with joy and emotions upon being asked. Around six or seven of them even shed tears of happiness. It’s evident that the bond Alexandra and Mason share with their students is incredibly special.
“We spend over forty hours a week with them, and we both really love our students so much,” Alexandra shared as she explained why they chose to involve their students in such a unique way. “I thought it would be kind of fun to include them in the festivities instead of just having them in the audience. I want to give them this special part of my life because I’m so proud of the hard work they’ve done this year. They not only survived the pandemic but thrived in it. Watching them grow as people, they deserve to be up there with me.”
Prior to making the proposal, Alexandra ensured she had permission from the students’ parents. She also thoughtfully gifted the girls faux pearl necklaces and the boys colorful sunglasses. As a sweet surprise, after asking the students, she presented them with rainbow-striped lollipops.
This heartwarming gesture truly honors the incredible achievements and resilience of Alexandra’s students. It’s no wonder that the story has captured the attention and admiration of people worldwide.
