Isabella, a 19-year-old college student at the University of Southern California, opened up about her journey. Despite the difficult circumstances, she maintained an optimistic outlook, saying, “I’m feeling good. Not too bad.” Isabella is set to start her treatment next month.
The journey began in October 2023, when Isabella started experiencing persistent headaches during her first year of college. At first, she brushed it off as vertigo. However, when she awoke one day to find herself vomiting blood, she knew something was seriously wrong. She immediately reached out to her sister, who informed the entire family.
Michael Strahan emphasized the importance of a thorough checkup, praising the doctor who insisted on conducting a comprehensive examination. This decision ultimately proved life-saving. Isabella was soon admitted to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where doctors discovered a fast-growing tumor the size of a golf ball located in the back of her brain.
Isabella underwent surgery and subsequently endured multiple rounds of radiation treatment, followed by a month of rehabilitation. Her strength and resilience were evident as she proudly shared, “I got to ring the bell yesterday. It was great. It was very exciting because it’s been a long 30 sessions, six weeks.”
Keeping the diagnosis private for two months was not an easy task for Isabella. She expressed her desire not to hide anymore and hoped to be a voice for those going through similar challenges. She wanted to inspire and encourage others who are undergoing chemotherapy or radiation treatment.
Michael Strahan, a father of four, expressed his gratitude for his amazing daughter. He acknowledged the difficult journey ahead but remained optimistic, saying, “I know she’s going through it, but I know that we’re never given more than we can handle and that she is going to crush this.”
