Shannen Doherty

At 52 years old, Shannen Doherty has shown the world what it means to be a true warrior. This beloved actress, known for her role in the hit show Beverly Hills 90210, has been battling stage four breast cancer for some time now.

Unfortunately, Doherty recently shared some devastating news with her fans: her cancer has spread to her brain. But despite the challenges she faces, Doherty remains a symbol of resilience and courage.

Doherty has chosen to document her cancer journey, sharing the ups and downs with her followers. In a recent video posted on Instagram, tears welled up in her eyes as she received treatment.

In the caption, she explained that on January 5th, a CT scan revealed the presence of metastases in her brain. The video showed the process of Doherty getting fitted for a mask she will wear during radiation treatment. On January 12th, she underwent her first round of radiation. In her caption, Doherty candidly expressed her fear, admitting that she is extremely claustrophobic.

But she is grateful for her amazing doctors and the support of the medical team at Cedar Sinai. Doherty wants people to understand that “this is what cancer can look like.”

The day before posting this emotional video, Doherty shared a throwback video from January in which she was fitted for a thermoplastic mask that covered her face and neck.

In another video, taken on January 16th, she talks about having surgery to remove a tumor in her head and to biopsy it. Throughout these posts, Doherty’s bravery shines through, but it is clear that she is also petrified. She worries about the potential negative outcomes, about leaving her mom behind, and about potentially losing herself after the surgery.

Despite her fears, Doherty has received an outpouring of support from her friends and colleagues. Director Kevin Smith sent her a heartfelt message, calling her his “irreplaceable friend” and reminding her of her unwavering spirit.

Selma Blair and Sarah Michelle Gellar also expressed their love and support for Doherty. In response, Doherty shared photos of her friends and expressed her gratitude for their unwavering support. She also described her mother as “a beacon of light, an endless well of support and love, and one of my favorite humans.”

It is important to remember that Doherty’s battle with cancer began in 2015 when she was first diagnosed with breast cancer. She later sued her former manager for leaving her without health insurance, causing a delay in her diagnosis.

Fortunately, Doherty reached a settlement in the case. Through it all, she has shown incredible strength and determination, and we sincerely hope that she will come out on top in her fight against cancer.
